I made the cherries quite a long time ago at 2draw and never finished them. I am really slow at phototype realism and I got bored *L* but i really need to finish them. Thanks. I will get to the rest of your gallery once this place lets me navigate a bit more quickly. I like your sense of humor. :)

Syn, thanks for your comment, and thank you for the tip on the transparency technique. That would have really helped me out, lol. I used cross-hatching because I didn't know how else to get shading. I'm just getting used to drawing here, so it took me a long time, but I learned a lot and was pretty happy with my result. The color palette is nice, but limited, but that's ok, because you know what they say, style is based on limitation! St. George said my drawing really worked from a certain distance, which made me laugh, because I have 47 year old eyes, another limitation of mine, hehe. I just got back from visting my dad in the hospital (he got really weak and shaky, and his heart is in atrial fibrillation, but he seems ok), and then out drinking beer and having a bite to eat with some friends at a cool bar where they had a swing band. Now I'm sooooo tired, it's off to bed! Good-night! :>D -J.

and yes :) it is a tiny gecko on the window....but not one of the real ones..this one, and the dragonfly, are flyscreen critters. They clip onto the flyscreens to add a bit of whimsy.

I used to draw and paint all the time when i was younger but as ive got older ive started doing less and less, i just do the odd painting here and there and thats it, Ive not painted for a long time... i should get back in to some day. I just mess about on here with my mouse :P

(see comment below). The same persons also think they can give lessons and speak foreign languages. *shrugs* I meant no drama =P

I am bad at straight lines. I will tell you what i know.
You left click the mouse and then while that button is down right click too and move mouse to where you want line to end and right click again. but the right click pop up box gets in the way and I don't know how you make short lines because that box is in the way. You might ask LisaMM who seems to be good at it or Knack *L* Good luck.

Ohhh...ok..I didn't know what inklink was..just looked it up, the online drawing game? Late never told me about it, the rat. *G* She and I are long time friends!
YouDraw is interesting tho. They are going to make books when they hit 500,000 usable drawings. They have already made and sold some posters. I have several of my pieces on one. The idea is to tour the books, representing the 6 billion people on earth. Well, you can read it on the site. The reason I loved it was the people (most of whom are here now) and the challenge! If you could do a good drawing on YouDraw, you were a good artist because the box shape and tools are a nightmare! *L* But after 4 yrs there, THIS is a real joy!

Bears and patterns and the community draws here are really my "thing" as i teach realism drawing so realism feels like being at work *L* But I need to develop some work for an online portfolio and it is faster to draw here then with conventional media.

The keyboard commands are:
E for color picker. Pick color from your drawing , hover mouse over and click P then wait because it takes it a minute to load the new color.

P for drop down color palette

Z for undo. (we have a redo but it freezes everyones computer)

{ and } to change the brush size

< and > for opacity

right click on an area of your pic to zoom in. But once zoomed you have to use the keyboard commands.

I think thats it for now. We hope the admins will eventually add some more functions. :)

Oh, I just thought from Lates comment that you were a YouDrawer. I know her from there, 30-35 people from there have over here. The site is very friendly and supportive. We set that tone from the beginning and people basically only leave positive feedback. I am a huge HUGE fan of Emigre's cartoon series!! She is a brilliant artist and so funny!
