Hello Lisa. I am so far behind in my thank you's and cheers. Both mine & the site's fault I guess. Thanks very much for your recent cheers on my Strong & Free draw. The title was for the strength in the tree & our country (part of our anthem) for Canada Day. I appreciate your comment & coming around to say Hi. ;-) L8*

Hi there, Lisa! ;D Was genuinely shocked to see FU back up and running ... after two weeks, I was sure it was a goner. Well, as a former college professor of mine would say, "Never assume anything ... it makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'..." Heehee ... Anyway, too bad about the rain; I've seen in on the Weather Channel and you've had more than your share. Good luck with the resume and job hunting ... HUGS! ... :)

Hey there Miss Lisa! How are you? I hope that you and your daughter are over the hump and on a small slope of recovery. I know that this will be with ya'll forever, but at least you have each other and the road ahead is something that ya'll can pave together and be closer by being each other's rocks. OK.....I'll try to stop being mushy and thank you for your lovely comments on my crazy pics!! I love them and I got the idea from you, so some of the credit goes to you..!!! I have so much fun making them... they're a whimsical kind of creativity!!!

My friends daughter had Hodgkin's about 2 yrs ago and had chemo and we thought she had beaten it, but it came back. she is 25. Now it is a stem cell transplant which they say is a treatment of last resort. This is so awful.

Oh, I just read the comments below .... so, so sorry to hear of such a tragic loss, Lisa. That is unbelievably sad.

Lisa i have missed you bunches girlfriend. Things here have been a bit stressful, mostly due to my friends daughters illnesses as you can well imagine. I explained on your drawing. I understand your pain and hope that you and your family and theirs can find peace. I find that drawing. like you did, really helps. at You Draw i did many drawings when i was sad and they helped. *another hug*
theSAPINator wrote (4 months ago)
Lisa, I don't know what happened earlier, but i had written a few words to you about you and y our daughter's friend that passed away..again, I am so sorry for your loss..but i don't know what happened to it...I must have put it on someone else's profile or picture..for that, i'm sorry...but I intended it for you. I'm just so scatter-brained, but I am so sorry for your loss and in cannot begin to feel your pain. I hope that God eases your pain and that by coming here and drawing and talking to everyone here, we can in some small way help to ease your discomfort. I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers.
Menopaws wrote (4 months ago)
Hi, Lisa dear ... who was it who passed away?
theSAPINator wrote (4 months ago)
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments you always give. I think these are so much more fun than just drawing a picture and you inspired that fun for me, so thanks a million!

Thankyou for taking the time to explain your daughter's drawing for me. I had a lump in my throat as i read...i cant begin to imagine how devestated both you and your daughter must be feeling right now. I hope drawing gave your daughter a moment of peace. My heart goes out to all of you. Look after each other and hold each other close.

I'm the same way...have to use a mouse but would love to get a tablet. I've heard so much about them. I"m just afraid to spend that kind of money on something for me like that. I'm a stay-at-home mom and sometimes money is so tight. And as a mom, i always feel guilty when i buy myself something. anyway, you do so well with your mouse, you'll be fine. We all love your work. Thanks again for your compliments! :)

LATE wrote (5 months ago)
Hi Lisa, sorry I'm so "late" in responding to your fantastic story about your enjoyable trips to Canada (Ontario in fact) when you were 'younger' with your parents. From the info you supplied it seems you were north of me by about 3 hrs & a couple of hours away from our own family cottage. You had quite a drive to get there I see, but it is beautiful country up there & as you concur...worth it indeed. I'm not sure what parts of Cda your friend(s) have mentioned, but I guess living here, like anywhere else, change is inevitable but more gradual to the residents. Nothing too drastic I don't think. Other than this past winter with the mountains (a near record year) of snow, hehe. Alot of stories are media-fed & not necessarily experienced first hand. Reading your words about your Dad & those memories were beautiful, thank you. My Dad loved our cottage & the last two years we struggled to get him up there due to health issues. He just passed away unexpectedly, in July. I miss him terribly & always will. But as you say, having special people in our lives keep those moments in time, fresh in our memories. His presence is always felt there. I am a proud Ontarian & find my province very diverse & beautiful. I am a city girl with country ways, I guess. I love both environments. I really love nature & animals, but the hussle bussle of the city can be fun too. My draw called "Summer's End" is a similar view to what we see from our cottage window during the warm weather. The Bay freezes over during winter & becomes a natural skating rink. Lots of fun for all ages! So Lisa, thank you so much for your kind, encouraging words on my draws, but moreso, for your recount of a special part of your life, not so far from my own. I hope you do return sometime to your 'old camping grounds'. I'm sure you won't be disappointed! ;-) TTYL8*-ter

Hi, Lisa! Glad to see there are a lot of fellow tree huggers here ... not that it helps the poor tree in question. But as attached to your maple as you were, you can certainly relate. I told my husband, when the tree rapists come to chop it down, please get me out of town for the day ... I can't bear to watch! My next door neighbor is a fellow native Floridian (he and I are the only two in this entire mobile home park!) and he doesn't know about this yet. He had a serious stroke last year and this might set off another one! The nimrod neighbors are, unfortunately, from Pennsylvania! How come they are not as nice, sweet and enlightened as you?!

Hi Lisa...I saw your comment on my "Unblemished" pic. What part of Canada did you frequent? Yes, it can be very beautiful in the winter when the first snow or a large snowfall occurs & everything looks like it's covered with a gorgeous white comforter. It almost seems like the earth is soundproof. Calm, quiet, & contained. I also love the night sky during a heavy snowfall...it becomes just as white. I, like most ppl do not like the bitter cold, but I do love the different seasons. It makes you appreciate each one more, waiting for the next! Thanks for your many cheers & comments ;-) L8*

Hi again! I go down to the beach some weekends from Friday til Sunday. After i drew the bubbles picture I was wiped out, only wanted to comment for a while. Then i drew a cute pic for a color challenge and lost it, was so mad!! So that made me feel like not drawing. Then, I started doing one of a pointsetta encased in ice and I cannot get it to look like ice for love or money *L* I am OK, I have a friend with some health isssues and they live in England so i am feeling frustrated and unabvle to help and have a friend here with a 25 yr old daughter whose cancer has come back and that has me realy freaked out to be frank. Another really close friend of mine lost her 15 yr old son 10 yrs ago to cancer. Hard for me to go thru this again.

46?????????
Shoot girlfriend!!! What I would not GIVE to be 46 again!!
I will be 58!!! 2 yrs from 60!! If this were not a family site I would be cussing right now *L*

Trust me darling...you really won't realize you are old until you hit 55 and then realize the next big one is 60!!

However, I teach people ion their 70's and 80's and even have one in ceramics who is 95 (with full mental and physical capabilities, as far as art making anyhow). My 70 plus group does realistic pencil work and they are unbelievable!!! So I figure it is not ALL over yet if I stay in good health and keep a good attitude!! I want to retire and only do what I want to *L*

Thank you so much Lisa for your comment! I am afraid that my bright and sunny side is sometimes offset by a sensitive and gloomy side. I can usually recover very fast, but i just had a series of a few things hit at once, plus i think I get overloaded at the holidays. I always hesitate whether to vent, but then thought, oh what the hell, i need it and those that hate it can just go on and hate it *L* I am SO glad to hear that you are doing better. I know you had a shock and a ruff road, you must be a very strong person. *big hugs8

Thanks for your long note. You've had quite a year! We are the "Sandwich" generation. We live longer and so do our parents.
I sometimes wonder if we live better, however.

Elder care, moving, divorce, recreating yourself... all powerfully demanding transitions to go through! By being able to create here at Sketchfu, don't you find that it feeds your sense of expressoin? People appreciate what you do and comment upon it. You can express your current mood or feeling. We connect with people we'd never know in a "traditional' situation.

I wish you continued strength to handle all that's on your plate. I wish you many moments of joy. Most of all I wish you complete immersion into those things that feed your soul, your mind, your heart.

A couple of thoughts that encourage me are below:

"You are either losing your mind -- or gaining your soul."
~ Julia Cameron.

"He who laughs, lasts."
~ Mary Pettibone Poole

I appreciate your kind words. The animated drawing reflects the events of this past year. My-ex husband discovered he had cancer in February and by July had passed away. We were married 23 years and believe it or not, we had a pleasant divorce and a cordial relationship until he died.

He was Dad to my two children, raising them as his own. The suddenness of his illness and death still leaves a gaping hole in the family unit. I was trying to show how one minute things are status quo and the next they change right before your eyes. He died way too young - one week after his 63rd birthday.

The events of this year remind me that things come to pass; they just don’t come to stay.
