About gerbear

I am an artist/art teacher from Houston, Texas. I Have been drawing online for about 4 years. I drew literally thousands of drawings at YouDraw. Here are my main 2 gallery links, but I have drawings in many communal galleries too.

I am trying to learn Photoshop, I have been using Paint Shop Pro for years. I like drawing online for the feedback, friendships and the UNDO function *L* That saves LOTSA time!! Online drawing is a great way to try out ideas, no matter how odd.

Oh, and please, don't just steal my drawings. If you want to remix one, by putting real art over it or with it, fine, but don't just erase my name and call it yours. I work very hard on my pictures and they belong in my gallery to get the views here. Thanks.

I was SOOOOOOOOO excited to see you back, hon! That cheered me no end :) Sorry about your continuing 'puter problems, though :( I actually haven't been around FU much lately because of the dreaded FU Lag ... been pretty bad. (So what else is new!) Hope art camp was a success but I was jealous it was taking up so much of your time! Anyhoo, I try to stop by here once a day but sometimes, when you go to view and comment, it just STALLS. Very irritating. I wrote Andrew about it and he did something; for a day or two, it was better, then same old/same old :P So any real drawing I feel like doing I do at FG. It's lovely there, but sure do miss the manic energy from the Golden Days of FU ;) Missed you TONS and glad you're back!

Well, whaddya' know....I've been awol so long I totally missed this last FU outage....lol. I just made it back to FG a few days ago. I have new draws there but am too tired to try something here tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Are you still doing art camp or is that over for you? Sure have missed ya'! I keep tellin' myself...."Self...you need to sit down and wright that woman an e-mail!" But things have been nuts here and I haven't written anyone lately. Bad me. I'll try and do better.

Anyway, I'm about to fall over yet again so I'll have to check back in later.

I understand now, I had the picture of you packing up and going OFF to a camp out in the wilds somewhere. I'm so sorry you are so stressed - just remember that whatever happens will be OK. There is nothing that can't be recovered from . . .
When it gets too much just take yourself off somewhere and scream into a pillow or push against a wall with all your might. It's the holding it all in that causes the problem. You need to express it - get it out - tears work too. I feel for you my darling - I'm holding you in my heart . . .

Ger thanks for the cheers and comment on my draw. You are an ispiration and example on how to keep all of the artist here moving forward. I am very thankful you added me as a friend, and said the encouraging and instructive things you did. I see your comments of encouragement on different artists profiles. It always makes me remember how you did that for me. (((BIG HUGS))) FOR WHAT YOU GIVE HERE AT FUVILLE.

Haha. Nice to know where the phrase actually came from. I just picked it up from all the other disgruntled artists. I think most people visit Fu for a laugh and to release their daily stresses. Other sites are more serious in their art but still accept a little humour so I manage to get away with a few light hearted comments while appreciating someones skills. Nobody has the right to put down another when the artist has seen things in their own way, from their own perspective. I am sure that anyone would appreciate constructive criticism to help them develop their skill but it has to be put over in the corrct manner. Reading comments like 'that was blah blah blah, you should kill yourself' is so immature and can be very hurtful. We all see things differently and that has to be respected. All styles, all abilities. If you have the confidence to display your work then others should accept your effort.
Boy did I just rant again? Hehe. Sorry. Will look at your gallery over the weekend.

Hello Ger. Thanks for the add, I added you too. As you can see I have no artistic skills but I like a laugh and I have many dear friends with great skills. I love art, like music it is very expressive and can convey and provoke so much emotion.
I followed some friends to 'the dark side' but I am not one that can sit quietly while others bitch about another making an effort. If you visit said site and read my profile it may raise a smile.
I love it here cos even I can goof around and not get my butt kicked.

Hey Ger, I know what you mean about other sites. This one is comfortable and I can doodle or play or get somewhat serious if I want. I doodle when I'm talking to people on the phone/computer, fingers get restless, mind never settles. The dark side was too dark for me, I couldn't keep my thoughts to myself when others spoke pathetically about other people's art....ok so I tell them to kiss my buns when they tell others their work isn't worth a specific level. Anyway, when I'm down and out serious I draw a masterpiece somewhere but when I'm doodling I love to draw here, I love the people here, what a great bunch of friends. Ok I'm done babbling now, have a great day/evening. Hope you get a new pen soon, you are missed.

HEY GER...I TOOK MY LAST DRAWING IDEA FROM THE ONE YOU DID CALLED "MOUSE LINES". I THOUGHT IT MADE SUCH A NEAT LOOKING BACKGROUND, THAT I HAD TO TRY IT..AND THEN I ENDED UP WANTING TO PUBLISH THE ONE I WAS JUST DOODLING WITH...I HOPE IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE I STOLE YOUR IDEA...I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS SO PRETTY. :)

when i went to buy a graphics pad for my daughter i couldn't find a local retailer who even knew what i was talking about so i just did a google search for an online store. I went through a few to compare prices and came across this one that offered student or teacher discounts. All i had to do was state where i taught. Honestly o don't even think they actually checked. anyway i got it for about 40% off. I dont know if this sort of thig IS available to you as this was anAustralian supplier but is sure is worth a google. Good Luck!.
ohh! and now wacom make a new tablet that actually has the screen ON the tablet! it is as close as you can come to it being like *real* drawing!. they are mega expensive but my daughter has her eye on saving up for one to use when she starts her University courses.
Yes i am a teacher but not specificly art (ugh can't you tell from my attempts?) Ima primary school teacher and as such have to teach all the subjects from English. Maths, science, Society, art. music, drama,dance, PE, health PD.zLOl have i forgotten anything?..but i Do enjoy the art part :D/ My students for the past few years have been 7 and 8 yr olds. but i teach any age from 5 to 12.

Hi Ger, I am lonely without my mousepad to draw with. I DETEST using a mouse. I complain, whine, and act childish when I have to. I have a new hyperpen. Had it three months. Have not used it. Maybe I will now. I don't like to do new things when I am satisfied with what I do have. LOL Bad aren't I? Need to do some over gue things in the house. Not drawing could free me up for them. NAW WHY GET RADICAL OVER THIS. :D? I DO KNOW YOU KNOW MY PAIN. THANKS FOR THE IMPATHY. Also for the C&C from you. Gerry! I was just asking Meno about you - miss you quite a bit!! Thanks so much for going thru everything. Wow! What a great friend you are - that's a lot of trouble., don't I know it!!! Been over at "floatingginkgo" but having a very hard time there. For some reason, I have so much trouble doing anything I like there. Maybe it's the way the new drawings are highlighted. It's tough to give up some of the bells & whistles tho. CMB has been doing some very fine work there, Flubbles unbelievable, Suntan, reecreative designs, and FUZZY all outstanding there. Yes, I have been a tenor with the philharmonic for 26 years. I have been in several operas and local musical plays. One of my favorites was "The Barber of Seville". I loved "Otello" too. (Verdi's opera version of Othello by Shakespeare) I'm hoping to do one this summer.

Ah! Whoa! Thank you so much for all the lovely comments and abundant cheers again! He he, I'm glad you like Nigel. ^_^ He's one of my favorites, because he keeps such an even temperament even when he's angry, solely for the sake of other's feelings. A very mature guy (thank god there's at least one of them in the story *laughs*). I like his glasses too, though I have an oval pair. Nate is 'honest love' because he's the most sympathetic of the lot, he doesn't fake what he feels. I'm really not sure why he came out looking different. *scratches head* His eyes are shaped a bit differently, only because he's Filipino.

Basically what I'm aiming for is a clean, easy-to-draw and attractive style. I checked out Binarimon's work, but it's not *quite* what I'm trying to get to. I'm not sure whether I haven't had enough experience or if I'm just too slow - probably a little of both. You can likely see from the way my drawings are made that I'm terrified to make mistakes. *laughs* On the bright side, I have a job that I enjoy with a good boss and a commission as well as a summer job coming up. Sah-weet. ;)

Oh, wow! You looked at all those links?! You're amazing! I know, Switchfoot will figure out the LolDrew in time. *smiles* They're all really sharp guys. And guess what? Switchfoot was chosen to sing the credit song 'This Is Home' for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian! IS THAT AWESOME OR WHAT? And Dom? Aw, you're really too sweet, I'm all embarrassed now! *hopes to get into an art college* And also, *big hug*.

So to wrap this up, I hope your Final Fantasy random battles go without a hitch (it's always frustrating) and that Link doesn't mess with your mind (also frustrating) and that Prince Alexander will lure you back to the PC with ludicrously difficult-to-memorize puzzles!
