May your next 365 days bring you all you heart desires, in perfect order and in just the right time so that you float on a sea of appreciation and expectation the whole year through!
Hi Becky! So sorry to hear about your discomfort... hope it didn't dull the holidays too much for you! My Mother in law recovered after her knee surgery quickly with few complaints. We knew she was being brave, but quality of life is and was important to her.She is very independent! I hope your choice is the right one for you! Thanks for the cheer!
Merry Christmas, new friend, hope your holiday was filled with joy and luv, hoping the year to come will be blessed and filled with success! sending love and hugs to you and yours, starzshine/terry.
Happy Holidays Bakey B! ;-) Thanks for the cheers & I hope you are feeling much better. I can guess you are baking up a storm for these next fews days, likely at home & the restaurant. Make sure you take time for SFU & U2 ;-) L8*
Hi Becky! First thank you for the cheer! Now how are you! My Mother in law had both knees replaced in a single operation. I was so amazed at her courage and spirit. She wanted to be independent and refused to allow anything to slow her down. She had a huge amount of pain for quite sometime but despite this, she worked through intensive physical therapy and I was so proud of her! I have a wonderful regular custmer who also just had this surgery and she is also doing well! I can only say that I am so proud of people who have the courage to do what they may have to protect their quality of life! I do hope you are doing well! Thanks again so very much!
I have a close friend who had both knees done, the full replacement and he is doing wonderfully. He used to walk like a drunken sailor it was so painful for him and now he walks the neighborhood and jogs.
Hi Becky, brave bakery girl! I have had several close friends go through knee surgery. Brave and wise choice. Everyone I know has been 1000% better for the trial. I am soooooo very sorry that you have to go through pain and discomfort during this special holiday time, and I wish you a quick recovery! Get well soon BeckY! Lots of positive thoughts and energy to you!
Hi Bakey B! :-) Hope you are feeling better. Did your surgery require a cast? A couple of ppl I know just had knee surgery (torn meniscus) & it was done laparoscopically. The next day was very painful for them. Ever notice all medical conditions or problems have the word 'men' in them? haha...I'm in trouble now! ;-) Hope you heal well! L8*
Thanks for your cheer. If you're inclined, I hope you'll leave a toast for Menopaws on the Champagne Post a Toast drawing. I'm hoping we can gather upwards of 50 toasts by Thursday....
Hi again, I got distracted by your photo, I feel as if I know you???!!! Don't quite know why? But anyhow! Welcome, I think we are both fairly new here, Gerbear, Gerry found me milling around our old you draw place and invited me over. The experience has been amazing! I love the artists here (most everyone ... excludes Miss A's trolls) and am looking forward to going through your gallery. Thanks for the cheers, I haven't gotten to the comments, but thanks as well, I am open to any and all comments!
I'm glad you found Sketchfu. I'm still fairly new to it myself. My creative successes here are still hit and miss but making my new FU friends definitely goes down as a big success and I'm so glad to have you as one of them!
And please do feel free to just call me Robin. I was more comfortable with Miss A. when I first got here and didn't know anyone yet. Now it just feels a little too shy and silly to see it used by those close to my own age....lol.
Hi again "Bakey" B! ;-) ...thank you for the very generous open invite. I would definitely stop by your way if I were in the area - ever. Sometimes, business trips take me 'south of the border' but to date not to "bama! Besides, you might just find me in the kitchen with you baking up a storm. I love baking (my de-stress time is around 2am.) & my NY style crustless fresh fruit cheesecake is always summoned to parties. One of my fave jobs was when I assisted in the test kitchen for 3 yrs., of a division of Nestle Ent. & yes, it involved using large amounts of their chocolate which I brought in right from Switzerland. Just a very enjoyable position that came my way years ago. Anyways, it's very admirable that you created & achieved your goal & are enjoying yourself. Bravo! L8*
I finally got around to checking out your resturant online. Wow! That's a beautiful thing you have going there!
Being a good pastry chef is special art too and your menu looks heavenly! Shame I don't live close enough to pop in, meet the lady behind the art, and have an awesome meal!
Hi Becky. Saw all the cheers you left behind in my gallery. I appreciate your time & interest very much. I enjoyed looking over your restaurant site. Looks very very nice. Confession - I have a 'bad' habit of theiving menus when I eat at unique or nice establishments...most of the time I ask, but if I think it's going to be a No, I help myself. ;-/ I have a nice collection & I've framed some. I realize it's expensive to print some of them, but I figure it serves as my memory, souvenir, & 'free' advertising for them - hehe. I have one from years ago for a Fish House & the restaurant recently burnt down (good news; it reopened elsewhere) but they have a new decor & menu style. So the old one & it's memories is even more valued by me now. See...there is a reason !! Why do I keep wanting to call you Bakey Becky? ;-)
Hi Becky, just in for a second, even surgery could not keep me away from FU for too long. I read my profile and saw you are having surgery this morning. I wish you much luck and a speedy recovery! I think that is worse than the gum surgery tho I must admit this is not much fun at all! Hope you have a lap top so you can amuse yourself while laid up in bed. I will send you a get well bear as soon as I can sit at the puter again, right now the meds make me a bit dizzy. So good luck, my prayers are with ya!
Hi Becky! I just had fun cruising through your gallery, and added you as a friend ... hope you don't mind. You're a pastry chef? I'm married to a baker! He started working in bakeries in MA when he was 12, graduated from baking school at 17, and has been doing it ever since. Up north he worked for years in a Jewish bakery (an Irish Catholic making challah!), but when he moved to FL 27 years ago he went to work for Publix Sueprmarkets as a bakery manager and retired a few years ago. So you know some of the FU friends from another drawing site? OK, I've babbled enough ... welcome to sketchfu!
how do you find the time to draw? I would imagine being owner and chef is time consuming, having worked in the food and restraunt industry, and aspired to be a chef at one time I know what it is like, but hey another pipe dream on a long list for me! lol, thanks for the cheers and who know one day I may go down burmingham way and vist ya at your restraunt (maybe even eat there too!), it could happen you know! thanks again and welcome aboard the sketchfu express! :D
Thanks for the response, my husband is an architect and travels for a living. I asked if he had been to Birmingham yet, but he said no. He has been all over the country so it was a surprise he had not been there! We live in one of the ranchburger communities just outside the loop. We did redo the inside tho and made it modern. Wonderful that your place is doing well. If we ever make it there I will certainly let you know! That is amazing art for a 17 year old! Sunsi and Luthien here are 19 and 16 respectively and their work is so good I cannot imagine how it will be down the road!
Just looked at your restaurant...I wish Houston was a tad closer to Birmingham, I think I would be a regular patron! Wonderful that you went back to school and started a new life! It is important to follow one's dream. I have mostly stopped teaching art and am preparing to paint and sculpt full time. I am using sketchfu to relax at night but also to work out some idea of what direction I want to go. The art ws lovely at your place, did you do those paintings? Hope you don't mind the chat, I have always been the friendly type. :)
You were so quick off the mark with the cheers I hadn't put my comment on 'Happy Thanksgiving' so I've copied it here:
I am very grateful for all my friends at Sketchfu and this is my thank you for all the cheers and comments you are so generous with. As some of you may have noticed I have given up thanking you for each individual cheer - I just can't keep up. Equally, please don't thank me for individual cheers. Just know that I do appreciate your continued interest in my drawings. I know how easy it is to spend more time checking out everyone's gallery rather than drawing myself. However I think that is a major part of Sketchfu's appeal and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you all for being such a friendly bunch - I hope you have a really great Thanksgiving.

Hi Becky, you know you can participate to some drawings. For the Christmas tree if you want to decorate it,you just have to clic on the one above mine,it is from Tbinto and you use the colors she put beside. Do you know how to do to get the colors on ther side. You just have to clic over the color with the "e" key. If it does'nt just get the palette before and after you will be abble to clic on the colors with the key "e". Sorry my english is not really good =)
Hi Becky, thank you so much for the comment and cheers on my Viggo unfinished drawing. I have a lots of things to adjust before I will be satisfy.Bof anyway I'm never satisfy about my drawings
Hi Becky, welcome to Sketchfu. We have a lovely friendly and supportive group here and I am sure you will have a great time. There are even quite a few of that "certain" age group *grin* I am 57 myself! Love your icon, wonderful photo.
