About StGeorgeOfEngland

Am I really 107? You may never know.

For the best part of the past 30 years I have said 'I don't draw'. My art college tutor told me that I had no artistic skill and booted my butt out the place. Sort of killed any passion I had to develop any skills.
More recently I have been going through great changes in my life and have found that drawing (or attempting to) is helping me to relax. I am not promising great pictures but what I have I will share. My brain is picking up where the 16 year old stopped drawing so bear with me. Feel free to offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism for I wish to improve.
I have to say thanks to the people who have inspired me to try again. Two in particular have supported me and encouraged me.
Thanks Mrs. Goofball and SG, you know who you are.

I love art of all kinds and have a very open mind to most things. I don't get chopped up animals, dirty beds and garden sheds though. Can somebody tell me what that is about?
I like the art of painters such as LS Lowry, JMW Turner, William Blake (quite dark and disturbing), Richard Parkes Bonnington, Renoir plus many more.

I like the photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Frank Meadow Sutcliffe.

I am lucky in the respect that I have a major art gallery and a beautiful sculpture park within easy reach of my house.

Yes, I'm the same mad fool from Inklink. I have many friends from there that are fantastic artists here. That's why I came along. To view.

Browse the many varities of styles and skills here. If you enjoy them half as much as I do then you will have a good time.

Have fun, smile alot, love alot, make friends, drink heartily and eat well.
Peace and love to you all.

Something I was told a while ago:

It is very easy to find the bad in a person.
It is sometimes hard to find the good in a person but well worth the effort when you do.

Regards,
G.

Hi StG. Thank you for your informative and kind comment on my Remembrance Day tribute. My Dad used to tell me stories of himself as an able seaman in WW2 and stories of my British Grandfather in WW1. I would sit and listen just trying to understand what he/they must have gone through. We can never truly know. Even as difficult as those years in his life were, he was a proud Canadian and his stories were always interesting and educational. These stories were so personal, nothing you could ever read in a history book! I miss him alot but also "remembering" WITH him. Now it's important to "remember" FOR him. Thank you for the appreciation! ;-) L8*

So sorry St George, I don't know what I did to send that cheers thing as I thought i was just browsing and must have inadvertantly touched something i shouldn't have!! Anyway I really thought it was a pleasant image with nice use of colour. I noticed there were no people on the scene. Looks like a nice street to stroll along with a pal. Would you mind taking a look at my first attempts on here and share your thoughts (Im open to any critisisms, I can take it, I think!)E.R

Hi there! Thanks for the comment on my Middle of the Night. I'm actually heading off to bed. It's my typical bedtime 4am! You referring to me with insomnia? Nah...since I was a teen I've only required 3 hrs sleep per night. No idea why, but happy I can gain so many waking hours in a day. I love being awake and hate to miss out on anything life offers - hehe. People with insomnia want to sleep but can't...I don't want to sleep!! The problem is...I have no idea where the extra hours go like the other hours of the day. I'm classified by friends as a night owl, but a morning person too, since one leads into the other. hehe. Anyhow, good morning to you, good night to me, TTYL, L8* ;-)

Good morning Guy. Yes the red barns are an iconic feature of the country side here. Sounds like you really enjoyed your visit to the USA. The state I live in is so beautiful. I live in the heart of the horse country. The greatest horse race in the world is run fifty miles from me. The Kentucky Derby. Thorobred horse farms are all around me. We are the number one in state parks in the nation. We have such varied terraine. The Daniel Boone National Forrest is a big part of our geography. The Appalacian Mountains also. From rolling hills to mountinous regions we enjoy such beautiful landscape. We are cak=lled The Bluegrass State. When Daniel Boone, as an early explorer, gazed upon a field of grass, seeded, it had a blue hue. Yes the grass is sold as seed. It is not very drought resistent, thus must be blended with other for landscape us. Anyway, I love all I see around me in nature. Therefore I just really love drawing it. I love where I live. I never tire of viewing it's beauty. I am glad you enjoyed the barn with me. Hugs

Yes, Many of my friends are obsessive about herbs, herbial treatments etc. I think MDs have there place, herbal treatment, chiropractors, etc. I try to be balanced in my approach. It is not easy. The drink you talked about, with burdock, what is it and how do you make it? I may have to google some stuff. I would be up a creek if I couldn't take garlic. Externial application is good also. I use it on the skin. I put it on my grandson's bow bows. It works faster than the chemicals.
BabsBlueEyes wrote (6 months ago)
Hey my kindred herbal users. Nothing but Vit C, Echinacea and Golden seal when I have an infection or illness. I am allergic to antibiotics. I have been "into" herbs for a long time. GARLIC IS THE BEST FOR SOOOO MUCH. If your ear hurts, open a soft jel of garlic oil drop it in the ear. Then go stand in a crowd, maybe no one will know it is you. LOL Use the odorless, it isn;t but MUCH BETTER. Have a sore on your tongue. Use garic oil. Valarian root for calming. You probaly know all this and more. I also did a successful all natural cancer treatment. The Hoxey Treatment. Went to the Bio-Medical Center in Mexico. Every day I use Himalayan Goji juice by freelife. Great stuff. Just wanted to chat with you about these interests we share. You sound like you are well versed on the subject. I have let up some. Used to buy goats milk, free range chicken eggs.shop the The Good Foods Co-op. I need to get back to right. I would be healthier. Just lazy I think. I would like to know about the drink you told Meno about. You make it I assume. BTW dandoline juice, never drank it. Aloe Vera juice was a part of my Hoxey treatment. Sorry if I rattled on and bored you to tears. :D
Menopaws wrote (6 months ago)
Actually, I am much into the healing powers of herbs ... I take feverfew to prevent migraines, cat's claw for arthritis, turmeric for general wellness ... and herb teas just for the hell of it :) And, yeah, I'm sure root beer and burdock are probably kissin' cousins, anyway ;) OK, call off the duel! (P.S. You ARE the only person on the planet who likes Wings! Too sappy :P But, I'll always love Paul!)
Menopaws wrote (6 months ago)
A&W Root Beer "disgusting?!" Sir, I challenge you to a duel! Well ... okay ... maybe a Burp-Off! You drink dandelion juice? And you think WE'RE crazy? Ha!

aakyra wrote (6 months ago)
Hi George! Just stopping by to say hi and thanks for the message. I see you have been baptized in dark waters. 2 draw is really an odd and dark community. Not nearly as bad as it was 3 years ago. The artists then were for the most part exceptional and very, very, elitist, often nasty. Some like Axil ... posted and posts comments that are so offensive that I stopped drawing there for a long long time. In that world, the overall attitude is that this is the way, truth and light. Most of this attitude was based on a follow the leaders attitude. I am amazed by that need people seem to have for acceptance. Sometimes and in that situation, most of the critics don't see any wrong in their comments and approach. I have learned to ignore this only because I have a greater need to use those tools for my goals and personal development. Long story ... I won't bore you. I miss all of you and try to keep up with the little time I have as often as I can. I saw your comment before you deleted it and wanted to say thanks. You are a classy guy! Take care!

oh yeh, you have to sign out as you first, then back as FUWorld. But you can view it any time.
gerbear wrote (6 months ago)
You can rant that rant to me any time you want!! *L*
In my gallery George you will find a few themes.
The occasional realism, slightly painterly

2 pieces of hyperrealism

lotsa kewt lil bears...but of course!

Tons of FUolish FUn FU art. I started a gallery called FUWorld to collect everyones FU art. If you ever have lots of time, feel free to move any FU art you find floating around into that gallery and just leave a note to the artist who drew it. Instructions are on the FUWorld profile.I will add you as a friend on there so you can find it. Basically anyone can sign in as FUWorld, the password is on the profile. Then you can add art to it. You copy others by adding a dot, just give credit with the artists name if you move one over. The gallery is fun, havE A look and a go at it (as you Brits say *big grin*)

Patterns of all sorts, I love making patterns and doodles.

Last but not least, community draws, i have at least 50 or more I have participated in. Love em!

Due to the lag monster tho..will completely understand if you dont make it past page one *L*
gerbear wrote (6 months ago)
hehe..I named it the Dark Side *L* I am a teacher and HATE what goes on over there. I did some lovely work, loved the drawing applet, but some of those ppl should be shot! Really. Or hung. Art is sacred and art making efforts to be admired no matter WHAT the result, we all started somewhere. They are just big bullies with complexes.
*end rant*
I will go and read your profile tomorrow! *grin* I love the humor here, most of my gallery is silly stuff, I can do serious realism but I NEED silly escape to function as a decent human being *L*
nice to meet you *S*

I really appreciate the time you take to do so ;-) As for the Legends series I am doing...I am being a little "Country Proud" and drawing the Canadian Stars & the pattern is I am drawing those that have left us. So as for Liz Taylor, I'm not sure if I could 'do her justice' by attempting to draw her. I did draw an older Liz on YouDraw some time ago... http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/solopic.pl?picnum=354658 But perhaps, I'll surprise you & moreso, myself and try. Thanks again! L8*

Hi George! Thanks for the message! I appreciate the information. Seeing as how I am not yet impressed with myself I can tell you I have not been to ink link only you draw and 2 draw... Both experiences tell the tragic, and ugly beginnings of learning digital art. Most of my submissions were indeed badly done. It has taken great time and patience for me to learn to post something half way decent. So, no I haven't been there yet. I recently took a trip to deviant art. I can upload photography and real art at that site.. Thats my huge forgettable bio! Three kids! Thats wonderful! I love watching children as much as watching horses! They are amazing little people... great subjects for art... surprised I don't see more. Well thanks again! Its so nice to see such wonderful fun and positive people joining!
