I love Anne Coulter- I love her existance and all she stands for. The first time I saw Anne Coulter was back in the day when Bill Maher was on one of the alphabet channels with Politically Incorrect. There was this tall leggy blond woman who said something to the effect of "I would give up my right to vote if that meant all other women couldn't vote" and so on and so forth about how women were too preoccupied with their ovarian duties to make good decisions for the country. I love her because she is one of the few people in the world I feel okay hating, with every single fiber of my being. She made me almost break my TV. I can hate her with a hatred that is reserved for violent dictators, murderors, and pedophiles. She is a wanna be man who betrays her sex and shows ZERO concern for humanity. She is the woman who would attack 9/11 widows and make a joke after John Edwards son had died that he "had a bumper sticker saying ask me about my dead son." She is one of the most hateful people in the world and a horrible rotten bitch. A vile vile bitch, and I love to hate her. Great drawing, and it made me laugh.

LOL @ "cosmic jew zombie", btw :D
lewicron wrote (about 1 year ago)
Fair enough, she doesn't really rattle my chain that much either, to be honest. Hers was just the first name that popped into my head when I thought "who would be a truly hellish person to have at your house for christmas dinner...?"

well, i wouldnt have her over for xmas dinner simply because the religion i was brought up in doesnt celebrate the birth of the cosmic jew zombie. other than that, i honestly do not remember what mood i was in when i originally wrote my first post about coulter, and after you commented i did make moot points about the mentality behind why she says things. subjectively, my reasoning would not hold up to me if someone else used it. therefore, i'll simply say that for whatever reason, she does not bother me the way other people seem to be effected by her; so maybe i am trying to find a reason for that, but i'm not sure i have one.

And by the way, don't take this as a personal attack - it's just my particular debating style.

Thanks for the compliment. I think it's an alright drawing too :).

I understand your point, but I still think it is weak. You're basically apologising for this woman's hateful views because (A) she doesn't hold any real influence and (B) she doesn't actually believe them, they're just a way of making money. The first of these points is probably largly true, but it is naive to think that she holds no influence at all. The woman writes best-selling books, so it's clear that what she writes strikes a chord with a significant number of people. Furthermore, she is (or at least has been - i don't know how often she's on TV these days) afforded a very public forum, on a national news network, to air her odious opinions. As for point B, this is just sheer speculation on your part and you've said as much yourself. No doubt she uses the kind of inflammatory invective that she does at least partly to court controversy and increase sales, but the views she expresses are disgusting nonetheless, and as far as we know she does believe them. Personally I would think less of her if you were right, since promoting bigotry, hatred, ignorance and intolerance just as a cynical money-making scheme is even more abhorrent than doing so because it is truly in your heart.

Your analogy about Hannibal Lecter is also deeply flawed, as there is no comparison between a fictitious character commiting fictitious crimes against fictitious people and a real political commentator spouting real opinions about real people and events (and as I said in the previous post, her opinions ARE real, at least according to her ). I think you've missed the point there - "hyperbolically" or not. An analogy of what you are saying would be to say that you shouldn't criticise a movie or TV show that expresses racist or homophobic views because, hey - it's not real life. Another one (related more to the Machiavellian angle) would be would be to say that it was OK for Hitler to murder all those jews because he was a Nazi, and that's just what they're like.

And before you start quoting me any more Voltair, I'm not saying - and never did say - that Coulter should be prevented from expressing her opinions. But that quote you gave also gives me the right to criticise her views and yours. It gives me the right to make flippant jokes about her, too, if the fancy takes me.

As for your intitial comment, yes you only used the WORDS "that's not nice", but the implication is that I'm being unreasonably mean, and that I SHOULD be nice about Anne Coulter, and that you're ticking me off about it in the way a mother might tick of her son for saying something unkind about the neighbour. I could be wrong here - perhaps you were meaning to be tongue in cheek, but I saw no indication that this was the case. Or perhaps you were just making an observation, in which case you have a genuine talent for stating the obvious. Please let me know if I got the wrong end of the stick. Assuming that I didn't, I have to ask: how is any of what you've said relevant? Maybe she is just doing it for the money, maybe she doesn't really believe it and maybe no-one really does take her seriously, but does this make her any less of a hateful bitch?

Would YOU have her over for xmas dinner? I fucking wouldn't.

good drawing though

hyperbolically,
when i hear that, it's like people saying they were mad at what hannibel lecter did on tv last night. its not real. she's not a political figure, not a real journalist, she doesn't have a large following, ppl do realize she's outlandish and its all for the sake of making money; ie selling books and commercial air time. now, what she says and promotes... there has to be a point (at least with me) that i dont even hear it anymore and i start thinking about the person. i do not know if she is consciously thinking 'what i do here will benefit me this way' but that is defiantly something that has become apparent to her and been fueling the fire over the years. and being a money hungry, capitalist, lbj understood, robert moses adorned person (to an extent) i do not see a problem with that....
but maybe i have too much faith in people and she really does per sway ppls ideals; even if thats the case, which i dont really believe to quote voltair, "i may not agree with what you have to say, but i'll fight to the death for your right to say it"

ps "chiding comments"
all i said was thats not nice, nbd

??? I'm sorry but I can't understand your reasoning there. Whether or not she belives what she writes and says (and I've seen her state explicitly that she absolutely does)what she writes and says is abhorrent. She supports a corrupt government, is openly and vocally homophobic, preaches ignorance by claiming the evolution is "a faith based belief, not a scientific theory" when she plainly has not the faintest idea of what actually constitutes a scientific theory, and she preaches religious intolerance by claiming that the US should invade Arab nations kill their leaders and convert them to christianity (another statement that she has explicitly confirmed that she actually believes). In your book though that's ok, because she's a "Machiavellian thinker" and says it all to make money and get on TV. On the other hand, I get chiding comments for titling a drawing with a light-hearted joke about the woman. Eh?
nuggets wrote (about 1 year ago)
your not wrong though....bigoted
nuggets wrote (about 1 year ago)
thats her persona, she sells books and gets on tv because of it. as a Machiavellian inspired... 'thinker'... i cant blame someone for that. to me, its all bullshit anyway, whether or not thats really what she;s like.
lewicron wrote (about 1 year ago)
she is a poisonous, bigoted moron, though...
