I think I like this one most.. but to some extent it also depends on the mood you're trying to convey. This one looks darker/more lonely, which fits the pose better. The light blue in the last one makes it happier..putting it only on one side as a transition between the two states perhaps?

I like this one the best of the three; darker background, succint lines and colors.

This is another sketch in progress. Published for now, but I know I'll come back to tweak it some more. Steven McCurry's photos are wonderful to try and replicate...
